A Parent Cooperative

We are parent-owned and parent-run. The direct, family involvement makes the cooperative a unique educational opportunity for families and children alike. Working alongside each other, we make strong, lasting bonds. As a parent, it is a delight and a privilege to be an integral part of a program which encourages children to grow in mind, body, and spirit. For the child, there is no better place to play, learn, and grow than in a dedicated, involved community which nurtures each child with acceptance and kindness.

There are three main responsibilities when joining our cooperative.
  1. Every family helps to govern and finance the school by serving on a committee or the Board of Directors and actively participating in fundraising events.
  2. Every family also helps maintain the facilities through 8 hours of work a year. Whether it's coming to community-wide day when many families to work together or it's a project that's done on your own, there is flexibility in how each family contributes to the maintenance of our school. Each family can choose which activities and tasks best meet their skills, interests and time constraints. This may consist of everything from planning parties and fundraising events to rewriting school policy or raking leaves in our spacious play yard. Each family contributes at least eight hours a year.
  3. Every family provides snack for the students for one or two weeks a year (the teachers provide a list of what is needed).
The organization is flexible in how its needs are met, and we try to work creatively with families to help them fulfill their cooperative obligations. We feel that every family’s contribution adds something special to our school and supports our commitment to bringing quality learning in a diverse and creative setting to preschoolers.

Parent Review:

This place is pure magic. With a strong focus on play based learning, the teachers are experienced, invested and continuously expanding their knowledge of best practices. TCS has taught both our children, and us as parents about the meaning of community.
Our children were so well prepared to be curious and creative learners in kindergarten but also for appropriately socializing and interacting in a kind and empathetic manner with other children. They were empowered to work things out on their own and supported through all of the emotions of being an early learner in life.
